Description
The Martin DE Retro Plus Granadillo (GRW) bridges the gap between classic vintage heritage and modern stage performance, sitting proudly at the top of Martin's premium Made-in-Mexico lineup. Heavily inspired by the iconic D-28 style, this full-bodied Dreadnought features a torrefied solid spruce top that undergoes a thermal aging process to deliver an open, matured, and rich "broken-in" tone from your very first strum. The star of the show is the solid Granadillo back and sides—a dense South American tonewood often called "singing wood"—which provides a chest-thumping bass response, long sustain, and a piano-like high-end sparkle that acts as a stunning alternative to traditional rosewood.
Designed as a premier touring workhorse, the guitar offers seamless modern playability with a fast Performing Artist neck profile and high-performance taper paired with a smooth ebony fingerboard. For live setups, the DE Retro Plus jumps ahead of standard Road Series electronics with an upgraded LR Baggs Element VTC pickup system, utilizing a low-profile under-saddle transducer and soundhole-mounted controls to retain every bit of the guitar's natural acoustic dynamics without any piezo harshness. Classic aesthetic touches tie the package together, including an authentic Aging Toner top finish, open-gear Grover tuners, double white binding, and elegant Style 28 rosette and fingerboard inlays.
