Taylor 717e Gold Label Indian Rosewood/Torrified Sitka Spruce Acoustic Guitar
Description
Taylor's Gold Label Collection reimagines classic tonewood pairings with modern engineering — and the 717e is the collection's flagship dreadnought. Built around a modified Grand Pacific body that's 3/8" deeper than the standard version at a full five inches at the soundhole, the Gold Label 717e pairs solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a torrefied Sitka spruce top for a voice that hits harder and sits lower than anything else in the 700 Series. The deeper body adds tangible low-end power and projection, while the torrefied top — specially roasted to mimic years of playing — delivers a mature, played-in sweetness from the first strum. This guitar ships with LR Baggs Element VTC electronics and a deluxe hardshell case with a British Cocoa exterior.
A deeper body for a bigger voice
The Grand Pacific is Taylor's round-shoulder dreadnought — warmer and rounder than a traditional dreadnought shape, with less treble spike and more midrange body. The Gold Label version pushes that character further by deepening the body an extra 3/8". That additional air volume translates directly into more bass energy and projection. Paired with Indian rosewood's naturally rich overtone spectrum and a torrefied spruce top's broad dynamic range, the result is a guitar that blooms when you dig in. Flatpickers get a thick, muscular attack; fingerstyle players get lush sustain with rosewood's signature harmonic shimmer trailing every note.
Action Control Neck — dial in your perfect setup through the soundhole
The Gold Label 717e introduces Taylor's Action Control Neck, a long-tenon design that bolts the neck deeper into the body for improved acoustic coupling and added low-end warmth. The real innovation is adjustability: an interior neck bolt accessible through the soundhole lets you raise or lower your string action without tools, shims, or a trip to the shop. Turn the bolt to dial in your preferred string height — lower for fast fingerstyle, higher for aggressive strumming — and the guitar responds immediately. It's the kind of feature you don't know you need until you've used it once.
Fanned V-Class bracing with tonal rout
Inside the top, Taylor's fanned V-Class bracing replaces traditional X-bracing with a pattern that lets the top vibrate more freely along its length while maintaining structural stiffness across its width. The result is greater volume and longer sustain without sacrificing intonation accuracy. A tonal rout carved into the bracing further opens up the top's response, giving the 717e a wider dynamic range and more headroom than standard bracing patterns allow.
