Four Note Boogaloo by Daryl McKenzie
The Four Note Boogaloo is a fun piece for a grooving rhythm section with a melody featuring a small jazz combo horn section of Alto Sax, Tenor Sax and Trombone in the A section. In the B section the Saxes and Bass play unison counterpoint against the brass. Both sections are based around 4 note motifs, hence the title. There is also a section allowing the drummer to solo or play a great groove. A Boogaloo is a 60’s dance groove, a fusion of R&B, soul, mambo and son montuno.
